Filefish
Filefish
Filefish are thin and lateral, meaning their bodies appear to be large from the side but when looked at head-on, they are super thin. Their bodies are very coarse and their skin was used as a form of sandpaper to finish boats (fun fact). The filefish has distinguishing patterns on their bodies with larger fins at their rear then on their sides or on top of their heads which affects their ability to swim well. They are closely related to Triggerfish and even look similar if not for their flattened bodies.
