Lionfish have colorfully stripped bodies with a skeleton that spreads out wide like a lion's mane. Many Lionfish are venomous and should be avoided, although they are more likely to stay away from you. Their spikes will not kill you, but they can be very painful. The lionfish's spikes also serve as a form of capturing prey and swallowing them whole. Lionfish are very beautiful, but exercise caution when matching them up with other fish in your aquarium.
